Steven has been with KCOE since the Spring of 2006 when he entered the center as a cooperative student (co-op) while pursuing a Liberal Arts education at Saint Vincent College minoring in Management and Operational Excellence. After Steve completed his undergraduate degree he was hired as a full time coach and has since completed his Masters in Management: Operational Excellence and also began pursuing his Masters in Health Services Leadership.
Steve has served the Saint Vincent community in many ways during his undergraduate, graduate, and full-time career. During his undergraduate years, Steven was a member of the SVC track and cross country teams. After graduation Steve also served as Residence Hall Director of Saint Vincent’s senior most residence hall, Rooney Hall, after his years of experience in Residence Life. His leadership was most evident during his years in Student Government, one of those years he served as the Student Government Executive Board President, lead a debate broadcasted on CSPAN, and was a part of the welcoming party of 6 for President George W. Bush. Steve was named the winner of the President’s Award, recognizing him as the most outstanding member of the senior class.
Steven’s business background began at age 18 when he started as an independent concert promoter, after the Youth Center in his hometown of Saint Marys closed down (and has since re-opened). Now, Steve has two LLC’s of his own, and coaches small businesses on the side to help them through their marketing efforts, website design, seach engine optimization, and start-up organizational strategy techniques.
With this experience and zeal of small business marketing, Steven is an integral part in bringing KCOE’s message and brand to the market.
Steven’s primary role at the Center is an Operational Excellence Coach and holds the title of Associate Director of the Center. He is leading a number of successful implementations of the KCOE System of Operational Excellence and supporting other successful implementations throughout North America. Successful implementations include MEDRAD’s Heilman Center, Fibrek’s Fairmont Division, Phoenix Sintered Metals, as well as a number of small projects. Steven’s primary mentors are David Adams and Rodger Lewis. Steven aspires to continue understand the Toyota methodology and continue applying the cultural change and organizational strategy implementation components to hospitals throughout North America.
